Zac Efron by caughtinthehurricane Zac Efron by caughtinthehurricane
Second attempt at painting a celebrity, hopefully this time the likeness is a little better!
Personally, I'm just incredibly pleased with how the jacket leather came out.
Done on photoshop, approx. 8 hours.
Comments/critique welcome!

Thanks for looking!

PS. Theres something about this image... wherein it looks a LOT better in full view, as opposed to the thumbnail. Does anyone know what error in my drawing leads to this? Is it the proportions/shading are off, and you don't realise till you zoom out? If you know, let me know! I'll love you forever.

PPS. Comparing this to my drawing of Jensen, I'm gobsmacked. How was i proud of that drawing? I feel like I'm actually improving these days, and it's a lovely feeling! :D

WOW! The eyes are absolutely stunning! And the eyebrows, you can see each little hair and that is truly amazing. The hair and the shading under the eyes, the bridge of the nose. The little details really make up this picture. The blending of the colors is absolutely perfect. Every detail is exact. Your style as an individual artist is definitely present.

Without reading a description or anything you can definitely tell he's in leather, the reflective quality of it is very realistic!

However when I first looked at this, I couldn't exactly tell it was Zach Efron, which I know as someone who likes to try realistic things isn't what you want to hear. I do think this looks like a real person, though! But the shape of his face isn't exactly spot on with Efron's. The eyes are pretty close though, as is the chin and the mouth area.

If I was going to suggest anything for improvement (though I have no room to talk, this is better than anything I can produce at my current level!) it would be to readjust the shape of his face, maybe elongating the nose and bringing in the cheeks slightly.

It's obvious you spent a lot of time on this! And it is absolutely amazing what you've done with photoshop. Keep up the good work! :D

I think it looks great overall! I think the thumb makes the face look pretty flat. It's better in full view, but I do wonder if the contrast needs to be upped a bit.
no worries, ill add more shading next time!

Haha, I have the same problem with things looking better in fullview than thumbnail. :) I do think that it's things like overall proportion and form (lighting and stuff) being a little off. When you look at fullview, the eye is drawn to details like the eyes, which are well drawn, so you don't notice the little things about the overall shape being wrong.

The eyes and the lips and the edges of everything look great! The eyes especially are very pretty. I think the shape of his face/jaw might be a bit soft, Efron's got a bit more of a sharper jaw, I think? Otherwise, the colours and textures look great, and the portrait has a nice soft look to it. :D
too true, great observation!

thanks very much!

Wow, I like it! It looks so real!
The colour of the eyes is perfect, I think, but ... maybe a bit more light?
And also a shadow underneath the cheek bone would be better, I think. For now he looks a bit like a child, but I think you portraied a 20s version of zac? :D
But, as I said before, great job!
thanks very much, useful tips :D
